Dr. Kouyoumjian received his undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester in New York. He then earned his medical degree, with honors, from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr. Kouyoumjian went on to complete his orthopedic surgical residency at North Shore University Hospital in New York, and graduated with the distinction of chief resident.

Board-certified and fellowship trained as an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Kouyoumjian specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, knee, hip, elbow and ankle. He also performs minimally invasive total joint replacement, wherein he utilizes Computer Navigation technology for the most precise reconstruction of normal joint anatomy. 

Dr. Kouyoumjian is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, Texas Society of Sports Medicine and the Collin County Medical Society. He serves as a clinical instructor of advanced arthroscopic surgery for the AANA, and supports the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons as an official examiner for the Orthopedic Board Certification Exam.

Locally, Dr. Kouyoumjian has serves as the team physician for both Prosper and Liberty High School.
